Franse onderzoekers hebben een robot gebouwd die kan vliegen over oneffen terrein door alleen gebruik te maken van visuele input om stabiel te blijven en nergens tegenaan te botsen. Dit alles zonder gebruik te maken van een accelerometer of gyroscoop. De robot met de naam BeeRotor weegt 80 gram en is 47 centimeter lang. Het apparaat kan door een oneffen ‘tunnel’ vliegen door alleen gebruik te maken van ‘stroomveldsensoren’, schrijft Cnet. Een stroomveldsenor meet geen snelheid of hoogte, maar peilt de afstand aan de hand van beweging.
